In September 2015, Energy Capital acquired Terra-Gen, LLC (“Terra-Gen”), an owner, operator and developer of utility-scale renewable and clean energy assets. The company’s 988 MW operating portfolio spans 28 facilities throughout the western United States and includes a diverse mix of wind (725 MW), solar thermal (178 MW) and geothermal (85 MW) plants. The assets are located primarily in California, with additional capacity located in Nevada, Wyoming, Texas, Colorado and Minnesota.

Terra-Gen’s current operating portfolio is highlighted by its wind portfolio located primarily in Tehachapi and Palm Springs, California. These two regions boast some of the state’s best wind resources and transmission infrastructure that allows Terra-Gen to directly deliver renewable power to end markets including San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.

Terra-Gen is an active and experienced developer of both greenfield and brownfield wind and solar projects. The company has built an expansive pipeline of contracted and advanced-stage development projects that are expected to be constructed and reach commercial operations over the next several years.
