EquiPower Resources

From 2010 through 2013, ECP formed EquiPower, a power generation company, through multiple acquisitions of both single assets and portfolios of assets. EquiPower owned and operated nine power plants, totaling 4,685 MWs of combined cycle natural gas and coal-fired power plants across the deregulated Northeast and Mid-Atlantic U.S. power markets (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Ohio). EquiPower predominantly focused on acquiring highly efficient, favorably positioned, environmentally compliant, combined cycle natural gas facilities in markets that were expected to experience tightening power prices as the result of power plant retirements. During our ownership, we formed a management team (composed of individuals who we had deployed from a previously exited power generation of ours) and established a 24/7 commercial desk to manage near- and long-term commercial operations.

In April 2015, ECP closed on the sale of EquiPower to Dynegy Inc.

Dynegy Completes EquiPower and Brayton Point Acquisitions from Energy Capital Partners

Dynegy Inc. (NYSE: DYN), through its wholly owned subsidiary, has finalized its acquisition of EquiPower Resources Corp. and Brayton Point Holdings, LLC from Energy Capital Partners (ECP). The transactions include 10 generating stations, capable of generating 6.3 gigawatts of electricity into the New England and PJM power markets. The Company now owns nearly 20,000 MW operating in eight states.

Energy Capital Partners Closes on Acquisition of Ohio Generation Assets and Bolt-on to EquiPower Resources Corp.

Energy Capital Partners today announced it closed on the acquisition of the 444 MW Richland power generation facility located in Defiance, Ohio and the nearby 20 MW Stryker power generation facility located in Stryker, Ohio.

Equipower Completes Milford Acquisition and Debt Financing

On January 20, 2011 EquiPower Resources Corp. (EquiPower), owned by Fund II and certain co-investors, completed the acquisition of the Milford Power generating station in Connecticut. An agreement to acquire the 548 megawatt (MW) combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant from a consortium of financial owners was announced last November.

Equipower Resources Corp. Agrees to Acquire Milford Power

EquiPower Resources Corp. (EquiPower), owned by Energy Capital Partners, announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Milford Holdings, LLC to purchase 100% of the membership interests in Milford Power Company, LLC and 100% of the shares of Milford Holdings Corporation (together, Milford Power). Milford Power owns a 548 megawatt (MW) combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant commissioned in 2004 and located in Milford, CT. With the acquisition of Milford Power, EquiPower will become the fifth largest generation fleet in New England with approximately 1,800 MW of capacity, consisting exclusively of CCGT power plants.
